Diesel Gets Costlier Than Petrol First Time Ever in India
Diesel has become the most expensive auto-fuel in the country overtaking petrol for the first time in a long while as the oil marketing companies raised it’s pump prices by 48 paisa while keeping the price of the other fuel unchanged. In the Capital, diesel is now priced at Rs 79.88 per liter while petrol remains at level of Rs 79.76 a liter. This makes diesel the most expensive auto fuel in the basket for the first time in the Capital. For the 18th day in a row, state-run oil companies raised the prices of diesel. A comparison with the global scenario shows that diesel has been the most expensive of auto fuels as the product has a higher cost of production in many foreign countries. Even in India, the base price of diesel has been higher than petrol.
